CAN RECEIVE EMAILS, BUT CAN'T SEND EMAIL

Some Internet Service Providers may require you to use a different outgoing mail server when you are trying to send the your e-mail through a different Internet Service Provider. They do this for the purpose of blocking Spam from going through their mail server.

To solve this problem you need to find out the SMTP outgoing mail server of the ISP. Before you make any changes make sure you write down your settings.

Follow theses instructions for Outlook Express.

Open Outlook Express.

From the Menu go to Tools, Accounts.

Click on the Mail tab.

This will show a list of all your mail accounts.

Click on the mail account you are trying to send mail with.

Click on the Properties button.

Click on the Servers tab.

Write down your current Outgoing mail (SMTP) settings before you make any changes.

This is where you would enter your new mail account settings.

Click on Apply the OK.

The window will close.
Then close the Internet Mail Accounts.

You should now be able to send your mail.

I can’t communicate properly with my L2TP/IPsec VPN Server.
What do I need to do to communicate?

The hotel you are at features an “Enterprise” level router that incorporates ALG NAT Translations and Vlan secure ports for equipped room. The ALG NAT automatically looks after VPN translations, which can conflict with your VPN client if your client is setup to do the translation itself. Put simply, the ALG does the translations for so that you so that you do not have to configure your laptop to do so.

If you can get on the Internet, and can get email, but can’t communicate with your VPN server, go to practicallynetworked.com/support/vpn_help.htm to view the actual problem. You will need to reconfigure your VPN client so that your software disables the NAT transparency in order not to conflict with the built in transparency on the router.

CAPA’s support cannot assist you with the configuration of your VPN Client and only your VPN Server Support technicians are the proper avenues for reconfiguring your VPN Client Software.

In the interest of all other guests it is a much more secure to have the ALG enabled, and it is one of the benefits of using an enterprise level router versus an off the shelf router.
